What To Expect When You’re Not Expecting

This is it. We have now reached that age. Facebook is now clouded with a haze of pictures of new slimy babies, massive engagement rings and yet another new questionable relationship. The news is littered with arrests and prosecutions of people we used to sit next to in English, but then, there is the few, like me, who are just kind of stuck in the between of adulting and not.

Yes, I am at university, no I am not doing ‘nothing’ but at the same time, I very much feel like I am in fact, doing nothing. Throughout our lives, we are taught a lot of things. From geography to trigonometry to details of every world war. But we are also not taught a lot of things – taxes, breakups, and telling fake friends from those companions who perhaps are just a little busy.

We are at the in between. The in-between of finding jobs we want to settle in or trying to qualify for a job in the first place. The in-between of finding someone we want to spend our lives with and seeing who is worth our time, romantically or otherwise. We are massive balls of confusion, more hormones, frustration and perhaps a little too much caffeine.

We are at the age of making mistakes and making even more when saying “I will know better next time.” Sometimes it is okay to not know what to expect when we’re not really expecting anything. We need to accept the unknown but not fear it, welcome in Unfamiliarity with open arms.

My name is Lucy and welcome to my blog!

I am a self-diagnosed fiction junkie and De Montfort University alumni who went from student paediatric nurse to aspiring author and poetess.

Come and listen to my ramblings about subjects that have ridden the rails of my brain for years, or simply skim over the thoughts that were hitchhiking for a stop or two.

If you want to know where to find me, catch up with me on my latest blog posts or my social media; Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or Pinterest.

Thanks for dropping by!
