Shoulder Shrugging and Changing For Yourself

Recently, I have found it hard to let things go. I like to cling to fragments of memories and the people that are imprinted in them even though the overall impact of the said conjuring on my life may not actually be either pleasant or worth remembering. “The risk I took was calculated, but holy hell am I bad at math.” – As I have grown, I have tried to let go of these paper boats, put these fragile little memories into the rolling currents of the sea, yet these vessels are sturdy and stubborn. So sadly, these little boats always find a way to float back to me – concluding and further reinforcing that these particular melancholy memories that I regularly visit, were arguably risks that not worth taking or beneficial to me in any shape or form. Perhaps it is time to change tactics 007.

Emerge out of your comfort zone and try new things, especially as you grow out of your teenage years and a similar youthful mindset. Every decision we make, whether it is good or bad or perhaps just a little out of character, shapes us as people. If it is good then that’s great, and if it is not then what can you do about it? What can you change about the situation or the way you behaved to ensure that you don’t make the same mistake again? Accept it and deal with whatever consequences you have bestowed upon your current self.

Sometimes it is okay to shrug your shoulders and say “you know what? I don’t know why I did that.” You got caught in the tide, and your little boat dragged you out to sea. Ask yourself more questions, be spontaneous – get on the first train that arrives on a random platform, apply for your dream job, kiss the person you like, go on that night out in that questionable outfit. Whilst you spread your wings remember to remain cemented and be mindful of your own feelings, as well as the feelings of those who surround you. Be honest with yourself; make sure you have good intentions and re-evaluate the paths you take which may not be as positive as they appear.

Do good for you, but do good for others too even if it is done with a shrug of your shoulders. Change your paper boats into aeroplanes and be the best pilot this world has ever seen.
